Background Verification Disclosure & Consent

This is a standalone disclosure for workers in India. It explains that Compunnel, as your Employer of Record, may verify your background through a background verification provider, consistent with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable Indian law. It is kept separate from our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Employee Handbook.

1. Background Verification Disclosure

In short

Before you start work, Compunnel may verify your background — identity, work history, and records permitted under Indian law — through a background verification provider. This page explains that; you give your consent in the GigShift app.

Compunnel (acting as your Employer of Record in India) may engage a background verification (BGV) agency to verify information you provide and to conduct checks permitted under applicable Indian law, in connection with your engagement as a Compunnel employee placed through the GigShift platform.

Checks may include identity verification, address verification, education and employment verification, and, where applicable and lawful, criminal-record / police verification.

India counsel to confirm the BGV scope and the lawful basis/notice under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP) and the Information Technology Act / SPDI rules, including: identification of Compunnel's India employing entity (or EOR partner) as the "Data Fiduciary," the categories of personal data processed, retention limits, the worker's rights (access/correction/grievance), and police- verification handling. Confirm whether a separate DPDP consent notice is required in addition to this page.
